Steve “Stevie” Meadows is a Central Illinois musician based in Urbana-Champaign, IL. He’s performed across the country from sunny Florida to New York City to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado!
Steve is a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist and performs solo with an acoustic guitar. He also plays with a number of ensembles including The Steve Meadows Band (vocals, guitar), The Brass Junkies/90’s Daughter (flugabone, trombone, horn arrangements), The Jaybirds (drums, guitar, vocals), The Prairie Dogs/Jordanears (banjo, bass, drums, guitar, vocals), and many others. Steve was a touring member of Bones Jugs (banjo, guitar, kazoo, trombone, tuba, vocals) from 2016-2019.
Steve received a Masters of Music in Jazz Guitar Performance in May 2016 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In his time there, he studied jazz guitar with Larry Gray, voice with Dr. Barrington Coleman, and jazz arranging and harmony with Chip McNeill.
Steve has strong sight reading and improvisational skills. He is well versed in americana, pop, and rock styles. He released two albums of original music with the alternative rock band Missing the Point. As a writer, he’s had his music featured on ESPN and the ABC sitcom Cougar Town.
Steve teaches private lessons for guitar, banjo, ukulele, and vocals at the Community Center for the Arts (C4a) in downtown Urbana, IL. He has been part of the teaching staff at ISYM (Illinois Summer Youth Music) at the University of Illinois for many years, teaching classes and summer camp programs.
