About Steve

Steve “Stevie” Meadows is a Central Illinois based musician. He’s performed in over 15 US states since 2001.

Steve currently performs with Bones Jugs (banjo, guitar, kazoo, trombone, vocals), The Brass Junkies /90’s Daughter (valve trombone, horn arrangements), The Jaybirds (drums, guitar, vocals), The Prairie Dogs/Jordanears (banjo, bass, drums, guitar, vocals), Solo acoustic/Steve Meadows Trio (guitar, vocals), and many others.

Steve received a Masters of Music in Jazz Guitar Performance in May 2016 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In his time there, he studied jazz guitar with Larry Gray,  jazz and classical voice with Dr. Barrington Coleman, and jazz arranging and harmony with Chip McNeill. Though he is comfortable playing swing and bebop, what initially drew him towards jazz music was traditional “dixieland” styles.

Steve teaches private lessons at the Community Center for the Arts (C4a) in downtown Urbana, IL. Teaching email: smeadows@c-4a.org.
